Boise State University Football Team’s Secret Weapon: Idaho® Potatoes!

What’s been the secret to Boise State University’s success this season? Idaho® potatoes! The team not only eats Idaho® potatoes because they’re a great source of potassium, vitamin C and fiber, they also use them in their workouts. The team’s rigorous training schedule includes doing stadium steps, tossing and sacking 100lb sacks of Idaho® potatoes. As the most versatile vegetable, Idaho® potatoes are a healthy option whether you lift ’em or eat ’em.

To celebrate our favorite time of year, the Idaho Potato Commission is hosting the Idaho® Potato 12 Days of Spud-mas Giveaways! Q: Should I bake my Idaho® potato in foil?

A: No! Wrapping an Idaho® potato in foil prior to baking traps the potato’s natural moisture --steaming instead of baking it. This results in a soggy baked potato, rather than a light fluffy spud.
