Doug Ruff, Grower

Doug Ruff is a third-generation farmer in the Aberdeen - American Falls area. After graduating from Aberdeen, he went to the University of Idaho majoring in accounting. After a few years as a CPA, he came back to the farm which also ran an Arctic Cat dealership during the winter months. Today Doug and his son, Tyson, run Ruff Ties Farm -- raising wheat, chipper potatoes, russet Burbanks and sugar beets.

Doug is married to his bride, Jenny, who is also from the American Falls area. They have 3 kids and 3 grandchildren. He enjoys taking family trips, skiing, white-water rafting, and fly fishing. Doug has served on several boards over the years, on PGI, sugar beet association, planning & zoning, farm credit advisor, various church positions, and about a decade on the Snake River Sugar company board. He is now on the Power County Soil Conservation board and is the treasurer on the Aberdeen-Springfield Canal board. He is a firm advocate for promoting the Idaho® potato and the marketing expertise of the Idaho Potato Commission. He feels he represents the best farmers in the world which are right here in Idaho.
